Veranda: How to Design a Laundry Room You'll Love Forever

Take Advantage of Integrated Appliances and Hidden Storage Solutions

Patti Wilbourne of PWD Studio says it's important to think through all of the functions you want your laundry room to serve as you are renovating or building it out. She says a well-equipped laundry room should include dedicated space to fold, hang, and steam clothing alongside washing and drying. The designer also likes to include a utility sink, receptacle for trash, and plenty of space to turn in a full circle while holding a laundry basket to ensure a seamless experience.

“Designing a laundry room you will love forever is about combining thoughtful functionality with beautiful, unexpected details,” says Wilbourne. “Hidden storage solutions keep everything organized while maintaining a clean, elevated look and should be thoughtfully planned based on the number of people in your home, ensuring everything has a place.”

Additionally, you may want to consider integrating other kitchen appliances if this is multi-purpose space that also functions as a second kitchen. Ice makers, drink fridges, filtered water dispensers and more can all be excellent additions for hosting or for freeing up primary kitchen space in a busy household.
