Once a c.1830 seed business, this King Street storefront is now the flagship for Juliska, a luxury tableware brand.
With the store’s southern bones and the brand’s European roots, the vision for this space's extensive, two-story renovation was to meld historic features with modern luxury.
PWD Studio’s starting point was tapping into the potential of the building’s underutilized second story. This resulted in a bi-level shopping and entertainment haven brimming with rich design details that encapsulate the brand’s romantic ethos.
Key architectural updates done by PWD Studio include plumbing additions, relocating the staircase, and developing the second floor, previously used as storage, into an open-concept entertaining area with a workshop space, bar, lounge, and registry room overlooking downtown Charleston.
Bespoke design solutions done by PWD Studio include restoring and replicating original wood shelving, finding luxurious, high-traffic finishes, and designing custom fabrication like the Bohemian Bar, furniture, rounded archways, ginger jar-inspired staircase finials, and powder room vanities with Juliska ceramics as sink basins.
