This English and Italian Gothic estate stands out against the colonial and Southern traditional houses ofthe Lowcountry. Classic Gothic architectural detail abounds through custom-designed masonry, limestone, rich mahogany, and impressively ornate millwork. When a project this unique comes across your desk, great care and intention go into reimagining the design. The home's identity is solid and established, and its new owners wanted to honor its form while introducing a brighter, more joyful palette.
For our first round of design updates, we started with foundational elements, features, and finishes while ensuring the home's aesthetic integrity remained intact. Design development and implementation are still in progress for the smaller rooms of the home. The kitchen was completely renovated to emanate a relaxed yet refined aesthetic that sets the tone for the rest of the house.
Mahogany panels with pointed arches were sanded and stained to a lighter finish, contemporary light fixtures were introduced, organic wallcoverings line transitional spaces, and bespoke furniture in the primary suite, dining room, family room, and living room align with the client's vision for a more casual way of living while fitting the grand scale of each room.
Custom rugs, window treatments, and finishes were created to honor the spirit of the home's Gothic motifs while breathing new life and contemporary flair into the space.
